MSO Concert with Winners of our 2018 Youth Concerto Competition

MSO June 18 concert 1The MSO will return to the Great Hall of the Silver Spring Civic Building in June 2018 for a concert featuring the winners of our 3rd Annual Youth Concerto Competition. The performance is free – no tickets required.

Under the baton of Music Director Blair Skinner, the program will include:

  • Bizet: L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1 – Overture
  • Chaminade Concertino for Flute, featuring soloist Amy Hwang
  • L’Arlesienne – Minuetto
  • Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major – Rondo, featuring soloist Daniel Coile
  • L’Arlesienne – Adagietto & Carillon
  • Kenneth Carlborg’s Festive Prelude, a world premiere in honor of the MSO and our long-time music director A. Scott Wood
  • Shostakovich Concerto No. 1 for Violoncello and Orchestra – Allegretto, featuring soloist Justin Song
  • Rimsky-Korsakov: Sadko, Op. 5

After the concert, please join us for a String Instrument “Petting Zoo,” courtesy of Potter Violins! 

Parking: The Town Square garage is directly across from the Civic Building at 801 Ellsworth Dr. (See map above.) The Wayne Avenue garage is also close by (about a 3 minute walk) at 921 Wayne Ave. All public parking garages are FREE on the weekend in downtown Silver Spring.

Public Transit: The Civic Center is a 10-minute walk (½ mile) from the Silver Spring metro station on the Red line.
